thanks for the updates!
it just so happens that I ran into my neighbor after the evening hunt and they had shot an 8 pointer chasing a doe this morning. Apparently it is just starting to really heat up here in Ottawa.
Good luck everyone.

It's all in the weather in my experience... We need to seasonal cold snaps to jump start them bucks.... Was out last week for a few days.... Seen deer but no signs of rut activity .... Too warm!

Actually weather has no effect on breeding dates at all. It's all about photoperiod. Now weather can certainly affect daytime activity levels, but bucks will be breeding does at around the same dates every year regardless.
But that's a different thread...

I think we are into it hot right now in 93. Have seen some big boys cruising during daylight hours this weekend.

In 65 - SE ON, relative shot a nice 8pt last Sat., no physical signs of rut yet. Local butcher said much lower deer #'s brought in last week.

I think the butcher is the king of information.
If he doesn't see it; we didn't see it.

We got two 10 pointers last week that were chasing does. If the big boys are chasing the rut is very close!!! Had a little buck try crossing the road in front of me at 12:30pm yesturday. He was on a mission. He didnt care that I pulled over and watched him cross 10 yards behind my truck.

I hunt 94 and they are full rut, fighting, tons of chasing and deer everywhere. Bucks are coming into my stand much quicker and less cautious. My area is bow only so they don't get affected by the gun hunters. 15 minutes away my buddy hunted the gun hunt in a high deer population area and did not see a single buck or deer for that matter.
