Make sure you check the limits on your home policy. Mine has a $2500 limit for watercraft, with a $500 deductible, so it's pretty much useless unless you get an additional rider to cover many items. I had to get extra riders for my guns, tractor, scuba equipment, canoes, boat, etc.

Yeah, Never thought of that I upped my limit high to 2500 as well. It was at 250.00 a long time ago, but as insurance went up I raised my deductible. Oh well if they steal that off my property.

I don't know what company you are with, but Intact has the lowest rates for me. Stay away from Canada Brokerlink as an agent. They are owned by Intact and seem to be a training company for agents. My local office has a high turnover rate. I went through three agents in a four month span before I left them for a local family owned broker.

my biddy was looking for insurance for his motorcycle a few years ago. He went to Allstate because it was the closest one to him. The agent there told him to shop around because they were probably not the cheapest.

So I called co-op today to see what insurance would be with just Liability and nothing else they want 275.00. So I told them they are going to have to do better. He says the price is fixed in stone. I let him know that I was shopping my other insurance policies around and if I put my ATV someplace else the life, investments, house and cars all go as well. I have know the owner for 19 years I told them. He said he knew that. He said I did have some additional discounts he could apply to my policies for the house another 10% off an another 5% off the cars and truck. Going to have a little pow wow with him next week. Like why were these not applied when I first became eligible for them? He mention about 150.00 in discounts on the cars and another 100 off the house. This should have been applied 5 years ago. Me thinks someone owes me money.

Insurance agents are socialites. They belong to the country golf club. curling club and what ever that can expose their name, making them a great guy and themselves as approachable , community mined people gets them business. Now , a little less social doing and attending to business to keep a customer that they have is a balance of their career. I always shop every three years, do my homework and keeps them competitive, keeps me up to date on issues I never thought of.

Sorry I don't own a ATV . I like the exercise and quiet.

I just came back from getting a quote from my broker.
Soon to pick-up my new 2016 Can Am 450 Outlander L Max DPS.
From Trillium insurance including my discounts for full coverage was $425 a year. This includes full coverage if it goes through the ice.
From Intact she stopped calculating the cost when it was obvious it was going to be higher and I didn't get any discounts. Also Intact does not offer coverage for going through the ice even for an extra fee.
Still going to get a few more quotes.
