three great dogs
hunting over my youngest dog for the first time had my reminiscing about past hunts with my other dogs and feel very fortunate to have them.also fortunate to have some good knowledgeable people from the get go to train with and show me what these retrievers are capable of and how to get them to their full potential
yes I ran Hunt tests and and more recently field trials with with these girls and enjoyed a good amount of success but its the great work during those hunts that makes it all worth while.yes a good dog/well trained dog is a great conservation tool
my old girl UH HRCH Kookie Katie (Katie) now 13 yrs old, this girl owes me nothing.this was her last hunt a few years back.my gut goes into a knot now every time she greets me at the door with one of my shoes in her mouth, hobbling but tail waging, happy, her face so grey and eyes clouding over.i can't imagine life without her......sigh

almost 6 yrs old now AFTCH Baby Ducks Voo Doo Thing (Jessie).some of the guys I hunt with call her the vacuum.guess because she seems to comes up with the bird/birds no matter where they drop.this pic is from a hunt this year, just her and I and a little honey hole I spotted,a very quick limit

not quite 2 yrs old Quackaddicts Voo Doo Child JH (Jamie) cutting her teeth on a dove hunt, worked her little heart out, recovered every bird we hit that morning. 50 pounds soaking wet and oh those funny ears, she's adoreable and junior and qualifying placings her first year trialing.the future looks good

hope you guys can forgive this old fart for wanting to share this with you, dogs have truly enhanced my life

Some say your lucky to have one good dog in your life time. You are dedicated to training and the results show. You have three!
Thank you for the tips (I could say pointers but some would never understand ) Now eat your heart out and go west!Tea and ducks 2015.jpgsnow geese.jpg

I've been very lucky to train with Al and his girls for the last 6 months while training my first dog, Cabot. Seeing the hard work he puts in with his dogs on a daily basis has been a huge help in the progress of my own dog. Was also able to share a great field hunt with Al and Jessie last month where we got a pile of ducks and a banded goose, and Jessie showed some nice dog work too!
Great post, and thanks for all your help Al!
