    Default Deer hunt with vid

Here's the story of my deer hunt and a video of the hunt. The quality was greatly diminished when I transferred it to Photobucket. The camera is actually as good as a Go Pro IMO.

The morning started out bad as I got to my spot and realized I forgot my bow release! Went home and got back to spot by 7:30ish... Within less than an hour activity heated up with a beauty buck beyond my shooting range (about 50 yards) teasing me as he slowly moved in a south to north direction broadside... He appeared to be a 10 pt or more... best buck I've seen since 2010. Anyhow, hoping that he would make his way toward my apples, I sat patiently until about 9 or so.. this is when I heard a bit of disturbance to my left... A doe and her fawn appeared. I was hoping to get the doe but "settled" on the fawn b/c she held up a bit too long and I decided before the season started that I need to take a deer - period. And whatever presented itself for an ethical kill, I'd take it.. I decided this because I still had not killed a deer with my compound, and secondly, I have been in a bit of a slump as some of you know not having taken anything since 2012. In 2013, I should have had a decent buck but I made bad decisions and cocked my bow at the wrong time... but, it was my first season that year so i chalk it up to inexperience...

Anyhow, weather/wind was perfect, with a crisp westerly breeze and all the deer seen coming from south heading in a northerly direction.. so I had a cross wind to work with. Wind actually wasn't as strong as forecasted...

Both doe and fawn came in quietly and very slowly in typical fashion. Keep your eye on the left side and you might see both of them... the fawn dropped on the spot but took a while to die b/c my shot was a little high and I hit the shoulder and perhaps spine.. I know it wasn't a great shot. In the end, it turned out to be a small buck!

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the vid... I use a Go Pro knockoff...paid just over $100 for it. It's the SJ4000.

BTW, I didn't use the scent sticks even though I intended to... Will give em a shot next year!!

Please mute the sound if you are squeamish... the little guy wailed when I hit it.

Congratulations. Keep a saw with you to trim those pesky branches. They can can affect your point of impact.
