Reliance Home Comfort releases customer email addresses
I received an email from a sales person from tonight, the same email that was also sent to 104 others. How do I know 104 others? Because all 104 email addresses are displayed in the email. The email was not Bcc'd, everyone's email address is visible to all. Reliance has released their customer information to everyone that received this email. I have called Reliance, their response, nothing we can do,,,, call back on Monday.

A thorough read of their privacy policy would tell you whether or not you missed the "fine print" which most companies have, negating any chance of a successful lawsuit. The simple fact is that almost all companies sell their mailing lists and/or customer profiles to the highest bidder unless expressly stated that it won't. The devil's in the details.

Now in all fairness this email/intertweb thingy is still fairly new. I'm sure they'll figure things out soon.
Make sure you have finished speaking before your audience has finished listening.

Just like a phone number or even a license plate, an email address doesn't reveal any private information.

It must have been a glitch because I got the same reliance email bill notification and it was sent only to my email address.
