Tree stand, ground blind, or stalking?

I mainly hunt deer this way and in this order
1.Still hunt
2.Ground hunting (meaning sitting on the ground with back up against a tree)
3.Ladder stand...
Enjoy the still hunting the most....it may not be the most productive way, but it's the most exciting way....
As Dutch said, all serve their purpose...

Currently pretty close to this except maybe 1 and 2 would be switched in the order. Have not used a stand or a blind for the last 2 years. Prior to that I used both stands and blinds pretty much 50/50.

Thanks for your feedback, I always hunt solo so it's nice to hear the different perspectives, thanks all! I seem to have the best luck stalking all my pray... deer prove to be the hardest to stalk but that being said I nailed an large 8pt last year on foot. Hunting for 5yrs & loving every minute of it.

In 2013, I was walking to my stand along a trail that snaked along the edge of a deep creek valley. As I walked along the trail I peaked down into the ravine and saw a big doe bedding down. It was bow season and it was over 70 yards away and difficult to get to without spooking it. With a gun I could have had a shot... Since then I do peak down into the ravines as I move along similar areas. I suppose this would be categorized as still hunting... I need to try this strategy more.. the biug advantage is that the deer doesn't know you're there. I the sound is buffered some how by being on top of the valley.. and the deer couldn't have been more relaxed.

I hunt on the ground and in the air - but my successes have mainly been on the ground. Plus way more exciting. A combination of still hunting and ground blind is great. Find a nice spot to sit behind a downed tree and hang out. Get bored and still hunt to your next natural ground blind. For me, when sitting, having a book with me to read is important. It keeps me still.

I started hunting deer in 1965 and all my friends were over 18, that way I didn't need to bother my brother or dad.I did hunt a few times with them,though. Back then a week end hunt consisted of a knife,axe , plastic and rope and no food except a few cans of pop. Lol, I spent some cold nights.
I never really had any luck with a blind that I thought were brushed in really well. Raised platforms and tree stands were the best,but nothing beat the excitement of still hunting with the bow and a raccoon hat. It usually took me about a hour to move 100 yards. That old hat fooled a lot of bucks and does. I spent so much time in the woods,I learnt how to duplicate some social calls.

I hunt 50/50 ground and stand and same for harvest. I will stalk when bored but never have been successful. I sound like a bull moose in the woods. I will go walk about when too cold between watches to warm up.

From the time I could walk I was following my dad on the trap line and going moose hunting. I would say about 12 years serious hunting. Treestand? Ground Blind? Stalking? They all have their purpose and I have been successful with all. My favorite is spot and stalking and still hunting.
