    Sad Advice needed!!!!!

I have a 3 year old chocolate. Introduced her to the gun a year ago and she was fine. I wasn't able to get her out duck hunting last year so I went 2 weeks ago. She was freaked out by the gun so I left early as not to "ruin" her. Took her out to a field on the weekend to try again. She was fine after the first couple of shots...but then she turned. She was freaked out again! I don't know what to do. She is a great dog that always listens, not so much after shooting. Is there anything I can do to make her comfortable or should I give up?

    Cheers,

Don't give up! If you have the money have a pro trainer condition her to the gun. If not I sent you a plan that should work.

See Krakadawn's advice here. It's better than mine(Don't tell him I said that. )

I am not an expert but did you associate gun shots with birds? Is she bird crazy and then you slowly introduced her to a gun shots while retrieving birds? I did this with my pup and now he goes crazy excited even if I take the gun out.

I could be wrong and others might say so- I would go back to start and get her all bird crazy with pigeons and have a gun shot in the distance while you throw the pigeons. And work the gun closer after each retrieve. The main reason is to get her associated that gun shots equals fun ( to retrieve).

I like to stress the point- I am not expert. This method worked for my dog
