Purina Pet Food Is So Much More Disgusting Than We Even Knew
There's nothing like a good solid product made by the good solid people of your own country:
If you've ever purchased seafood or pet food from Nestlé, you may have unwittingly contributed to the abuse of migrant workers in Southeast Asia.
On Monday, Nestlé admitted that it had found indications of forced labor, human trafficking, and child labor in its supply chain in Thailand, where the Switzerland-based company sources some of the seafood that it sells in supermarkets around the world, including in the United States. The findings came after an internal investigation that was launched by Nestlé in December last year, following reports by media and NGOs that linked the company's shrimp, prawns, and Purina brand pet foods with abusive working conditions.

Geese, I thought it was common knowledge that the majority of anything coming in from off shore was made by some form of 'slave' labour.
Buying anything contributes to the abuse of human labours somewhere, somehow. Why pick on Nestle ?
You might as well have titled this thread...."If you Shop at Costco you are contributing to slave labour around the globe"
....but your saving money, so lets turn a blind eye

Yep, and that's the bottom line for many. It's one thing to buy a cheap pair of slave made winter boots but when it comes to you or your dog's well being (food products) you'd think more would care about simply saving a few pennies.

Anything we buy that's made in China or anywhere in the third world comes at the cost of the most brutal labor conditions in existence, bar none. Sadly, bringing these jobs back to Canada will never happen because corporate profits trump all else. Look at stock and share prices for WalMart,Costco and the rest of them. The bottom line is all that matters.

Nothing in the article says anything about Nestle's products being substandard...and they're not..we talked about this before Rick
It's only talking about how we get it cheaper here because it's made with slave labour over there...totally different topic.

As long as you're comfortable enough to buy it for your dogs Mike. I opt to spend a little more on a product made locally.
I do the same when grocery shopping.

I would buy it IF ,that product could be proven more beneficial , healthier , however it has yet to be proven that any of these locally made products are more beneficial or healthier than what we are buying that is made by Purina .
We all know that you have a "definite hate on " for Purina , this has shown up here ever since you have been posting on this forum , however there are many on here that use Purina products , our doges are very healthy and active and we will keep buying Purina products.
As for you it is entirely your choice and you buy what pleases you best/most.

It's just a news article jaycee. Purina is in the news a lot and whenever a new article is posted someone gets their panties in a wad.
I wouldn't buy that overseas stuff made in those types of conditions. My opinion.

Well chances are Rick, your typing into an electronic device or use one of those I-thingies so you already 'use' stuff made in off shore factories under those kind of conditions...probably far worse that the article you posted. So you can't be to overly concerned about the slave labour practices..which is what the article is about, or you would have to boycott, well just about everything.
If you condemn Nestle over it....you better condemn a whole lot of other things you use and eat.
As Jaycee said...There is no evidence that the food products from Purina are substandard being made off shore.

Indeed, thanks for the lesson Mike. Thankfully I don't put those things in my mouth and eat them. Lol
