Good day every one
Need a little help my son in law wants a trail cam for his property as he just moved out into the country.
Is there a cam that he could look at the pictures as he is in the house with his phone?
And what else should I be looking at ?
As I have no idea about trail cams.
Have done some reading on the web and that just got my head spinning.
I don't know much about the car eras that send pics to your cellphone as they are out of my price range. I have switched to spy-points and I am very happy with the quality and battery life. Got all mine when they were on sale at Canadian tire or TSC. Lots to choose from depending on how much you want to spend and also consider the chances of having it stolen while out in the bush. Check out "chasing game.com " web site devoted to game cameras
The OP question also raises a questions for me, being a guy who still uses a 'flip' phone.....if I pull my SD (micro) card from the trail cam and take it to the camp...with all the guys there with newer i-thingies, what would be required be able view what was on the micro cards ? Or would we need something like a tablet to pull the pics off the sd card first ?

Most likely your 'flip phone' has a Micro SD slot. (My Samsung Rugby has one) You can check your own photos right there at your camera.
What kind of flip phone so you have Mike? Does it have a camera? Is your screen capable of showing pictures? If yes, you should be able to pop the back off of it (or a small side piece) to insert the micro sd card.
There are absolutely no ports on my old Samsung flip, but it wasn't so much for me, I was more curious bout a way to be able to let the guys see some of the trail cam pics from our hunting area. This thread reminded me to look into someway of taking them over.
A few yrs back we had a lap portable at camp so a memory stick or old SD card was OK, but now everyone has the smart phones and I'm not sure what the plumbing is on them.
I though the OP might like the same info for his S.I.L.
I have used Wildview, Bushnell, Moultrie, and Stealth Cam. Don't own any of them anymore. Wildview was my first camera years ago. I used Moultries for quite a few years but got tired of the mandatory updates required. Actually had 2 cameras become useless because they needed an update but Moultrie no longer offered it. They wouldn't work without the update so I threw them in the garbage. Could never get a hold of their customer service either.
Just ordered a few Brownings. I'd go back to Stealth Cam top models. Cuddeback seems to have issues after a years use. Never tried them though for myself.
I don't know of any camera that use microSD cards. Most use the larger SD cards which wouldn't fit in any phones.
What you're looking for is an OTG SD card reader. Basically it's a small SD card adapter that you can plug into most phones (I say most because not all phones are compatible with OTG devices, the key being whether they can provide power to the card or not, this could be looked up relatively easily. For Apple iPhones a different connector style would be required.
I think the simplest way to review pictures is in a digital camera.
As for my opinion on what brand of camera. I have always liked Bushnell. They are available at relatively reasonable prices and provide good trigger speeds.
I have three stealth cams that I got at CT on sale for $99, they have not failed me once in four years, quality is good speed is ok for what I need and they have not been out of the bush since new.
They even have a free program to sort out your pics and make them into a slide show/movie.
