Recommend a Blackpowder for a Flintlock?
I am new to Flintlocks.
What would be the very best make/model of Blackpowder to use?
.50cal Lyman DeerStalker, hope to shoot T\C Maxi-Ball

Goex or Pyrodex would be the obvious choice.
As for load, you can use FFG(2FG) or FFFG(3FG), which means any type of Pyrodex would work for you.
FFFG is more faster than FFG.
You should use some FFFG or FFFFG for your flint. I would recommend to start from Pyrodex P, that would work for load and flint. If you are facing any missfire or you are feeling that Pyrodex P is not good for your flint, then you may try Goex 4FG for your flint only!
If you are feeling that 3FG is way fast and you want to play with heavy sabbots, then I would recommend Pyrodex Select, which is 2FG.In that case you should still use ether 3FG or 4FG for your flint.
Anyway, you cannot use pellets or Black Horn or other types of granular powder. Well, technically you can but it is not recommended.

Approx how much powder do you put in the pan? Half full pan?

Start with very little, about 1/4 to a 1/3 in the pan, make sure you don't plug the vent hole, you can try more if that don't work, the smaller size grain works best(FFFFg)in the pan, but I have good luck using FFFg in the barrel n pan, black powder works best in flintlocks, the substitutes are hit n miss
