Play cards, listen to the radio if you desperately need hockey or baseball

iam not averse to t.v
a buddy of mine has a camper with a dish and
out of curiosity id asked him "so how many channels ya get out there?".
hes said in a nonchalant kinda way “a few........ hundred!”
didn't know that was even possible lol, i get like 4 at home
i just take a small radio with an antenna.
never seems to be enough hours in the day out there to do all the
things id like to do: travelling, setting up camp, fishing, hiking, swimming, harvesting fire wood
,cooking, cleaning, adjusting the tarp, taking pictures
etc. one of my favourite times of the day are in the evenings just enjoying
the warmth of the fire and listening to the radio.

I'll second that. The reason I go hunting, fishing and/or camping is to leave the digital world behind. Nothing better than hearing nothing but the ringing in your ears and a mouse farting...

Has too much time on their hands
I too enjoy the peace of the outdoors in my truck camper. But, I have a 19" LED TV, Boxee Box and 1TB hard drive with movies and 500W intellegent Inverter. From a fully charged 12V HD Battery I get about 6hrs of movie watching at night. This set up work perfect for my weekend trips, I bring a geny and battery charger each time but rarely have to use it. The Honda Line of EU gennies are quiet, but expensive and one tank will fully charge the 12V battery. (4-5hrs at 6AMP charge rate)

Also you can youtube a homemade HD antenna made with metal coat hangers, it works awesome and I get 14 channels of HD in Ottawa and surrounding areas. Mine is screwed to inside roof of camper.

I dunno... for us Hockey Night In Canada was part of being at camp for walleyes in the spring (playoffs) and again during hunting season in the fall. We only had 2 channels, and often we had to get up on the roof to adjust the antenna... but it was tradition. Been quite some time since they did away with the analog signal and I still miss it. Especially when you spend every sat night from duck opener 'til freeze-up on an island.
For the most part, we spend daylight hours outside. Evenings when it's dark early it's nice to have a little HNIC to go along with the warm wood stove, a hot meal and a cold one to cap off the day.

Why when I have a tv...that's like trying to kill a deer by throwing rocks at it when I have a gun...lol I actually have very little time to watch when I am at home so it's kinda nice..
