Default fresh scrapes this time of year?

I just found 3 fresh deer scrapes close to each other.
Interesting time of the year for those. Unless something else made them..?
Located on edge of hay field abutting cut corn field.
I found some broken branches at 5' height and hoof print in one of them.

More than likely a young buck still feeling his oat's. Plus there still could be the odd young doe around that wasn't bred during it's first cycle and have come back into estrus some 28 days later...

You're the second guy to report that I know. Could be the weather that is having a weird effect?

Perfectly normal, in the properties I hunt that have higher buck to doe ratios I find they make new scrapes and touch up older scrapes right through into January. Also any early doe fawns are going into heat now as well.

it all depends on the year, but I have seen scraps as late as mid January

Anything can happen with this whacky weather. I saw one last week with no tracks in it. I thought it was another hunter making a scrape.

Nothing new or crazy. Just the third rut. Not as intense as the first but I find rutting buck activity during the last days of the season usually every year.
