This article glosses over the fact "His truck was also seized by the provincial civil forfeiture office, and he was forced to give up his two rifles."...apparently it was a $37K truck !!!

But the largest financial hit comes from the civil forfeiture of the 2013 Ford Raptor truck he was driving.

Dahl said it's probably the most expensive moose ever shot in B.C.

"I don't know of a single case where anybody was sanctioned ... in the neighbourhood of $37,000."

Im glad he got caught and they fined him and confiscated the tools used in the crime (the truck and rifles) gets another guy that thinks rules dont apply to them out of the woods. Too bad they couldnt get his hunting partner as well.

I can't remember the last time a court (in Ontario) hammered poachers like that. Most of the time,JP's routinely return vehicles to the accused, especially if they have liens on them, even if they were ever siezed in the first place. Actually, when was the last time we heard of firearms being siezed?

Also good on the father and son deer hunters who reported the matter.

This sounds like the appropriate punishment.

Just wondering what would be the jail time if they could not pay the fine.

I know if you can't pay the fine don't do the crime.

So second guy was charged in killing but aquitted due to the fact the prosecutors couldn't prove he was other hunter? Didn't he aid charged party by unsuccessfully trying to load moose carcus into truck & then leaving animal to spoil?
