I believe that even C.O.`s have to have an appointment under the Fisheries Act and Maggy Birds Act. As you an see by what is posted from the Act, C.O.`s aren`t mentioned. They are class appointed but don`t believe it came automatically. I think some officers in some jurisdictions may think they are appointed but may not be. I`d check it out before making the 1 M $ unlawful arrest.

They may as well...there's an absolute fortune in fine revenue awaiting them. Governments are seeking revenue sources, and fish fines would be a layup.

Yesterday,I had a conversation with an old friend I worked with and I asked him if he would ever be involved with environmental or FWCA,MBCA enforcement. His answer was short and sweet. "Maybe,if I had no choice and something had to be done ASAP depending on circumstances. Other than that,no way,I have enough to keep me busy." That seemed to sum it up.

It's the same deal with the truck stuff. A few cops will be trained in it but very few stick with it or maintain their certification.

They will have a police officer on duty at the river on all shifts during the salmon run from what was discussed in the towns plan. They will have 2 officer ( 1 per shift ) to cover the fish and game act. From what I read it was submitted in the budget and approved. Should be great for putting a stop on most of the idiots at the ganny

Police as COs on water is a bad idea without some special training which doesn't happen in some cases.

I don't have a link handy but there is at least one case currently before the US courts about a drowning by a suspect who was arrested by a Policeman(Patrol) assigned to additional water duties.

IIRC the Police defended his alleged "negligence" by stating he knew about arrests, suspects, custody and patrol cars but not the same aboard a moving watercraft.
