If you're into casting your own and looking to find pure lead let me know. I've enough to cast enough jigs to fish all the great lakes.

You don't need them for projectiles as far as I know. I've never been asked for it any how only for powder and primers.

Where are you getting them? I have to go to Williams and Gagnons in Saturday. Can grab stuff if you need.

A buddy just bought a new to him Remington auto 30-06. I wanted his son to pick up some 30 cal slugs so I could load him some ammo to play with. Got jars of brass but only 170 gr 30-30 slugs...I figure that if he has the initiative to get the components then I will load for him. Say hi to John if he is in the store....

My son and I cleaned out the pits at the Port Perry indoor range once. Sifted the sand thru 1/4" screen, took the lead home and melted it into ingots. Still have pails of them......never did get into casting.

That is the beauty of reloading, you are only required to show your PAL when purchasing ammunition. There are some dealers that like to cover their backsides and ask for I.D./ addresses, when selling powder. At gun shows the only time I've been ask for my PAL, is when I actually purchase manufactured ammunition. Components are not ammunition, and so far there is no requirement to show a PAL when purchasing them. The reasons: It maybe that components in and of themselves, cannot be loaded directly into a firearm for immediate use, they have to be assembled into ammunition. Impulsive behaviour that leads to suicide (the number one contributor to firearm deaths), might well be defused by the time you get the components assembled. Nor is it likely that the criminal element in our society would take the time or have any inclination to assemble their own ammunition. One of these days the politicians may wise up to this fact and place a moratorium on ammunition sales instead of simply requiring a PAL to purchases it.

If buying bullets only then no PAL required. Cabelas has them on the shelf just like camo underwear. Loaded rounds of ammo need a PAL.

I was always amazed while waiting for PAL to come in the mail...I could buy all the parts to make shotgun shells, but could not possess the finished product... my buddy had to take them home once we did a casting and loading session for shotguns.
