Roe I cant say much, but in this thread or one of the others I mentioned my neighbor.
He signed up as a young wanting to make a difference...After serving overseas....he joined a private contracting firm (within water treatment stuff)...Did that for a couple years...Saw things..
So because he saw how the contractors operated in their dealing with X...He wanted to make a difference and hopped the fence to the other side.....
Now he's back in private finishing out for a few years, it made him so "sick"....then he will be long gone. Retired and no more BS or smoke and mirrors or corruption or...

Has too much time on their hands
We don't do a lot of construction projects here at work but I do know the structural engineers here are keeping abreast of this problem.

I am proud to say that my father designed this bridge by himself. He put countless hours on this bridge, this is his child and it's so frustrating when people b...ash him and his bridge, he worked really hard on that project he spent his whole life building boring bridges for the MTO, the reason he built this bridge differently is to add to the character of this blue collar area, something the people can be proud of, something that people from all over the world can come and see, or can see in Times Square, or everywhere else it's pictures have been shown, to put Nip and tbay on the map.... He did much of that labour for free, and he did it because he wanted to, not because he's sitting on some high chair somewhere not giving a like everyone is saying.... Like what is wrong with people, he is devastated, and he will do everything in his power to fix it.... I'm heartbroken for him... So please spread the word, can't everyone just have patients and let him do his job, I promise in the end a big beautiful bridge will be standing for decades to come... But Rome wasn't built in a day! There are challenges and he will over come them but all the negative media isn't going to make him put the effort into fixing it... He's not being paid in the winter, If he wants to he can just walk away, but he loves this bridge, he is driving home from Florida and driving straight through cancelling the rest of his trip to fix this crisis, pls give him a chance!!! Support him don't tear him down, he's my super hero, he can fix anything!!

,
The province awarded it to BOT Ferrovial as a joint venture.
BOT being a Canadian firm. http://www.botconstruction.ca/
Ferrovial being foreign/Spanish. http://www.ferrovial.com/en/

I don't think I believe this. No design is 100% done by one person. You need to have people checking to ensure you didn't miss anything. And I don't believe at anytime, anyone has named names. I would have to say whomever the engineers/designers were on this case would be telling their family not to comment on something like this (much like a lawsuit) as anything you publically say can be looked upon later. I am not questioning you mastercaster but I am going to have to rely on something other than a random facebook post to put into the fact column on this one.

I tried to do some quick digging on that Roe. if I get the chance I'll see if theres anything that's publicly available. If they are public and listed corporations (aka trade on an exchange) I can find out either through company filings ( annual statements, shareholder information etc).
No different than really than many Canadian Companies being foreign owned. We may think of them as Cdn, but really.....

Looks to be a private family run business that's done well for itself
http://www.botconstruction.ca/about_...nders_day.html
Either way, its not good. I recall reading very early that the most likely culprit was the cables ( Spain) or bolts (Chinese made). In the end not sure its going to matter. It failed.
What would happen if the Golden gate bridge failed, or some other high profile thing failed, or some ceo had a bank blow up under him.or a malls roof around Kap (wasn't it) collapsed......If there's a small mercy it's that no-one was hurt or worse

Agreed! - Just thought I would share what I "seen on facebook", not what I know to be true.

That's funny because the first thing I said to my wife is that I'll bet the bolts were substandard. My question about BOT was due to the fact that the French Contractor I worked for like to brag about how they were the biggest road building contractor in Canada and nobody knew it. They did through acquisitions.
