    Default Dog trainer for pointing/retrieving

    Hi all !!

Just wondering if anyone here could send me in the right direction.

I have a 4 month old Brittany that is already naturally pointing squirrels and birds in our back yard.

I've started basic obedience on my own, as I have done for my other dogs
Sit, wait, come, lay down ect and he listens really well inside. .food and toy motivated

Can anyone recommend someone to help train my pup on birds.. pigeons ect..
    Also for proper firearm introduction??
I'm in Oakville but willing to travel to have him on birds.

So far he isn't showing signs of fear. I've had him in the truck, with my wife at our cottage. Took a few shots with my .223 and she said he was unfazed by it.

Anyways thanks in advance for any insight.

I would suggest you contact the Grand River Chapter of NAVHDA > You should be able to get a contact name from the NAVHDA website www.NAVHDA.org or contact Mike Wiltshire at Ruffwood Kennels. He is a professional trainer breeding Brittanies

    Good luck

My experience with dog trainers is very limited, but I got lucky the first time! I highly recommend Ugo at Uplander Kennels. He did a fantastic job with my Brittany, and is not far from Oakville. Ugo is a super guy and a consummate professional. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Ugo.

I'm no pro but I would probably stay away from centre fire rifles as a means of gun shot introduction.
    Can really create problems
    Good luck on your quest.
As mentioned earlier if you are lucky enough to work with Ugo you will find that he is at the top for a reason.

Thank-you Sharon and Jason. She is a pretty girl from Downwind, who connected me to Ugo, so I got lucky twice!
Jason, your dog is going to be a handsome boy. In case you don't recognize the look he's giving you, it's "please tell me we're going hunting and not just for a walk"!

I never realized how much energy was in a few cups of dogfood until I owned a Brittany! She is either full go, or the occasional recharge. The last picture below was taken mid afternoon on the first day of her first trip to Pelee Island - she was done!
