We just can't sit on the side lines anymore and let the antis pressure the government without us doing nothing.
Well, I can't argue with that. I agree with all of that.

Also, the more we sit on the sidelines, the more we will be pushed aside.

So doing anything is better than doing nothing. Usually. Not always.

But in this case, we have to do something.

I'm not against joing these organization,, but I have never seen them much in the new like I see the anti's. Befor I join I want to see them actively participating and shooting down some of the crap the anti's spew. I want to see these orgs in the papers premoting our side of the storey.

Maybe I have messed something but I rarly saw the OFAH or NRA or any group for that matter in the news, all I have heard was from the anti's.

Why dont the orgs join some of their forces (United we stand) and really fight these things like they do in the States. Before I joinI need to see some action and results.

The press is not on our side.

Any loud mouth anti can get press time and get their opinion pieces published.

I called the editor of The Record after the Chief of Police got a half page article praising the registry. I asked why we didn't get an equivalent amount of press. He said it was the opinion of The Record that the registry was a wonderful thing and it saved lives and without saying it, he made it clear that we would not get much press.

    So I canceled the paper.

Favorable press is going to be hard to come by. And it's really not enough to have one or two papers on our side. They will just be written off and ignored as right wing gun nuts that want to kill everyone.

So I don't think it's that the orgs don't want press, but that they aren't allowed press.

The results we will see if people adopt a "wait and see" attitude toward these groups is more anti-gun legislation shoved down our throats. The NFA has been active for 21 years and the CSSA 10. I suggest you follow Moe's suggestion and spend some time really looking at the NFA and CSSA websites. You will be amazed at what they have done for us already. The cost of joining the CSSA is $45.00, the NFA $35.00. So the price of a bottle of scotch and a case of beer sends a whole lot of support to the fight for our rights.

Hello to all this will be my first post. I have also been looking for info on a private home shooting range I live way up in Cochrane Ontario and have 75 acres for it with hundreds of acres of crown land around me , there are no shooting ranges up closest is in Timmins over a 100 km away, then I came across this that looked somewhat promising, have a read and tell me what you think.http://www.plourdelaw.com/blog/2015/...-ontario.shtml

Yep , read this before and depending where you live may work out well for you, 75 acres out of Cochrane with no nearby neighbors or neighbors that are not alarmed at some target practice may work out. For us in the south it would be more challenging but I am sure regardless where you are if the coppers show up that you will be charged and the courts will sort it out.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Exercise caution.

Note that the lawyer who wrote that does not point to any precedent establishing what is meant by "regular and structured" or "at the dwelling house" with respect to firearms. He does not appear to be describing settled law, but rather making a legal argument. The only person who can decide the validity of that argument is a judge.

Lawyers are not liable for the validity of their arguments. You are.

If you sat down at your picnic table and fired off a dozen rounds of 30-30 in your back yard, would you expect the OPP to show up? Would you worry if they did?

This lawyer is "stirring the pot" . --- If you don't mind having your guns confiscated and having to involve courts in order to (MAYBE) get them back , --- go right ahead ! --- The original poster asked a simple question . The answer is NO !
