    Default Wynne's 2016 Budget

I know this will stun everybody but Wynne just cut the MNRF budget by $19 Million. So don't expect any new initiatives unless she gets voted out which is unlikely. Enjoy what you have now because it will only go downhill.

The elimination of the $30 Drive Clean fee grabbed the headlines from the Ontario budget, but the fiscal plan also contains increases in virtually every other government service fee, including vehicle registration.

Starting next year, fees for driver and vehicle licensing, camping in provincial parks, fishing and hunting licences, liquor licences, event permits and court applications will be adjusted annually to keep up with inflation.

The government says automatic indexation will protect the sustainability and quality of the services, and ensure that the costs of providing them are borne by those who use and benefit from them.

The Ontario government raised $2.1 billion in fiscal 2014-15 from service fees, and says it will review all of them with an eye to making sure services intended to help low-income residents don’t become more expensive.

Eliminating the Drive Clean fee will cost the province about $60 million a year to pay private garages to conduct the emissions tests, and drivers will still have to cover the cost of any needed repairs to bring their vehicle up to code.

The budget also eliminates licensing fees for adoption agencies and increases the threshold for waiving fees for mediation in family courts.

More bullshyte over Drive Clean. They eliminated the $30 fee, but, they didn't eliminate the Drive Clean Program, did they? What unmitigated crap!

Trust me, her carbon tax adds 4-5 bucks to a gas tank she isn't out any money. Most people will pay the cost of a drive clean every month now in new tax instead of every 2 years.

I didn't think there was anything left in MNRF's budget to slash.

I remember being at a meeting where I was introduced to several young biologists and policy analysts that were new hires to implement the MNR's Species at Risk initiatives. As I was shaking their hands I recall thinking, "Nice to meet you, enjoy it while it lasts, I'm not going to bother memorizing your names, because I will never see you again". And so it was.

    Got this right.

People are going to buy, and burn, just as much gas after this tax goes into effect as they did before. It’s a hit on those who can least afford it. And it is far more a “revenue tool” than a planet saver.
