This month we ask Are worms the best bait ever?

Bait not lure, then in my experience over all, I would say yes. There are situations where I have never tried worms, such as for Lake Trout in a deep cold lake, so I guess it would depend on where and what you fish for. But if I decide to go fishing I usually start be looking for worms.

I have caught everything from muskie to fallfish on worms. Usually on a jig or harness but also on just a j hook and float. And to old professor I have caught lake trout on worms where the stream enters the lake when fishing for salmon.

In most situations - Yes!

Can't beat minnows for every species!

The best no way.
Very good in many situations yes.
More convenient than other baits yes.
Good for ice fishing? Sometimes but far down the list.
IMO overall minnows are the best.

For live bait you can't beat minnows.
