Once again the Wynne Liberals give Ontarians the finger:

Should be installing them at Queen's Park, plenty of hot air there to power them.

Not surprised. In Wainfleet you'll see them within a km or so of a popular sky diving venue. People tried to fight it, but political corruption and big money/greed always wins.

I was in Scotland this past year, and there are thousands and thousands of wind turbines. Pretty much every hill has a couple , while standing on one golf hole at the Scottish Open, we could count 26 in our line of site. They have North Sea oil and still look at wind power as an alterative. Well what do we know that they do not...or vice versa?

We don't need the unreliable energy they produce at 10x the market rate. In fact we dump it below cost to the States. Only an imbecile would endorse that.

Thinks back to 2008-2010, and many of the debates in the media and here on the forums and the GEA
Seem to recall, many saying (and I know I was one). Wind may be part of the future but

    1) Is this the right admin (recall by then there was plenty of brain cramps, scandals, and obvious, very obvious signs of mad spending) and very loud bells about the provinces fiscal shape?.Had to look through the smoke coming out of Queens Park though...Do recall it was 2010 they hired Drummond (another huge red flag many missed...When your govt has to hire an outside economist to first tell you what you screwed up...thats bad....When you also have to pay them to tell you how to fix it, thats worse).

    2) Is the right time...what with the teeth of the worst recession since 1929 to hit us. Recall vividly saying theres a time and place for everything.

    3) McGuinty and best friends sold the public on all the jobs it would bring....................

What does Scotland know that we don't?
Can only guess but my guesses would be
    1) How to hire better admins
    2) Don't dive in head first in a mad dash to be "green leaders" for a legacy
    3) Do things right. how to implement (see smart meters) when to do things...See oh so much...and maybe they aren't as crooked as a foot trail blazed by a drunken scout..See the contracts with Wind Companies, who is profiting large and who is behind them.

    Oh and I forgot
    4) Know when to cut your losses and stop throwing good money after bad...

So those people who do not want windmills in their neighborhoods , is it because of the cost? Scots are famously cheap, so yes to all of your reasons JB. Anyone who has been to Europe has seen wind turbines, and trash burning incinerators everywhere. As to being a green leader, Ontario is in many ways, far behind others.

Spent a lot of time in Europe working in the offshore wind industry. Don't kid yourself, the wind industry and the governements are running the same scam there that they are running here.

Gord there could be many reasons why people don't want them in their backyards. Good ones, that have nothing to do with the price of Hydro (though that obviously is one).

They are eye sores and take huge amounts of real estate
They are loud. On a good day we can hear the one at the Pickering Nuke Gen from a mile away. And thats just one
There are some not sure right word, reports, suggestions that those who live close are developing some health problems, everything from having trouble sleeping (constant drone), to problems with equilibrium, and more. Not sure how much stock to put into that but on the surface there may be enough to the claims that.......I sure as hell wouldn't sleep well with that.....

"Cost". Well this may vary, not sure but lots of claims, that many farmers, people in rural areas have seen *their* property values kneecapped. As much as I want to move to rural Ontario I sure as heck won't look at anything with a sea of those around the land. Not even one.

What do farmers rely on to get loans from us?
    Their property value

And then, well theres everything else. Cost of Hydro, their maintenance cost (have read reports they are good for 20 years only) etc, etc
