Do you have good cellphone reception? Have you looked into a data plan? Although pricey you can turn your device into a WiFi hotspot. I use it all the time for work related issues even in rural areas if a cell tower is nearby.

Theres also Galaxy Broadband. I don't know anything about them, but it's worth looking into.

We had the Bell hub which was $45 for 3GB, $55 for 5GB etc
costs were getting out of control and then one of our neighbours told us about a different plan that Bell offered but that Bell had not bothered to tell us about....now we pay $55 for 50 GB !
you need to visit a Bell store that has a lot of rural customers as the urban stores know nothing about it (it's unbelievable how disconnected and ****ed up that company is)....we used the Bowmanville store I see you are not too far

we have been with explorenet for four years and never been happy with them. Takes forever to get service from them and the signal sucks. the joys of being in the boonies.

They screwed over our family, bought the hardware only for them to upgrade in 3 months and tell us that we have to buy everything again from them. They would not cancel the contract either, they are a horrible company to work with and this is why my wife and I avoid them.
We were lucky enough to get DSL at our house, Tek Savvy is what we use and we pay $45 a month after tax for 400GB of data.
Look them up, I have no clue where you are but you may be in their wireless area as well.

I'm in the same boat. No xplornet signal, outdated phone lines, and am outside the coverage area of any other internet services.
