You may want to call xplornet again to see if they have a cell tower in close proximity. Their new service is LTE that provides greater options over the 4G system.
Worth a try!

I would definitely get them out for another site survey. A lot could have changed since the last time you had them out. We had the old original canopy 3G wireless from Xplornet because that was our only option. Less than a year ago they upgraded their towers, and we were able to switch to their highest speed wireless service.

you need to visit a Bell store that has a lot of rural customers as the urban stores know nothing about it (it's unbelievable how disconnected and ****ed up that company is)....we used the Bowmanville store I see you are not too far
A few people have pm'd me asking for the details on this, the plan is called "wireless internet 5 -24M Flex".....$53.95/month

Thanks for that! I'll be working on it tomorrow when I can speak to someone who actually is in Canada!

I notice by your profile that you are in Warkworth, just down the road from me. It sounds like your topography is very similar to ours. We were fed up with the Bell hub and despite having one of the tallest drumlins in the area, Xplornet could not get a signal (a good thing it turns out). We heard about RuralLynx starting up in Trent Hills and can't recommend Ray Abrams enough (http://rurallynx.com/). Three price/speed tiers, unlimited bandwidth and excellent service. Give them a call and have a site survey done. We are so happy not to have to deal with the other companies anymore

Well after a few phone calls and conversations with the idiots at Bell, it appears this plan is not available to everyone? Only certain areas are covered with service. The plan, if anyone wants to check, is called "Bell Wireless Internet 5 (BWI5) Deferral Service". Good luck!

For the first time ever, we have high speed internet on par with our urban friends. Good luck with the site survey!

thanks Trout Trekker, we are on Kasshabog and will be passing along their website to all of our friends on the lake. I know there is high speed there but at least now they might have another option.
