Not all cocker spaniels. Like our setters /pointers we have lines(FDSB) that are maintained functional for hunting purposes.

It is sad to see where some aspects of most breeds have been taken. Show people rave about confirmation....why I don't know as their view of conformation is so far from the body type that sound working dogs require.

The show ring labs are heavy clunky thick headed animals with shorter tails. They are not fit to do the work that is always announced that they do......sad indeed!

Can you picture that short legged dog trying to crawl through the bog and cattails to make a retrieve? Can you see them moving effortlessly over the ground upland hunting?

I have no problem with those who wish to use their dogs differently but to purposefully change the body type!!!!

So sad German Shepards have been bred down that road. At one time they were the hands down breed of choice for security and protection work. Seems now they are just not athletic enough. The Belgian Malinois Shepards are incredible dogs for that purpose now. Picture attached. Equally sad is the political nature (downright criminal) of the organizations and judging of these dog shows.

Showline GSD's are absolutely disgraceful these days. My working line boy still has the true form.. everyone compliments on his form and structure! IMG_4925.jpg

Thanks for reminding folks that there are still well bred GSDs out there. Good looking dog.
