Permethrin Premium Insect Repellent is not allowed in Ontario/Canada
Hi there, can someone please confirm if this is correct? I was under the impression permethrin is the most effective deterrent against ticks yet Health Canada has banned this for being to strong...how is this possible or even allowed. Yet there concerned about Lyme disease on the rise...no if you can't protect yourself when outdoors
If this isn't the case can someone point me in the right direction (Toronto area) or pm
Thx

TSC has some sprays that contain it.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Has too much time on their hands
I get mine from the usa. sawyer premium .it comes with 98.11 percent deet.it is 100 times stronger than what we can get here.snd works very well against ticks.i hunt turkey late season almost every day and have not had a tick on myself yet.when others I am with have pulled them off themselves. Great stuff.i am not sure why we are so limited on canada.D

Like Dutchhunter said, Sawyers works great. I picked mine up at Cabelas in Michigan. I hear you can pick something like it at farming stores or TSC as a repelant spray for horses.

It's illegal to sell products containing it use on 'Humans' in Canada, but not the US, but many animal products contain it are sold here.
As mentioned there are a few horse care products sold at TSC that contain it and they work great on you and your pets.

I've have read somewhere but can't remember, a test study was done they sprayed deet on a piece clothing and left it wet and let a tick go on it. The tick was crawling around for a long time. But with the permethrin it stop instantly and fell off. I will try and find it and will post article. Also Permethrin will last a week or more without applying again.

from what I read on the product details of the one sold in Ontario (like the one mentioned in the links above) and the Sawyers permethrin that's sold in the states is that they contain the identical amounts or percentages of permethrin. The only real difference was in the descriptions. The Canadian product say for pets, animals and as a premise spray where the Sawyers product says for clothing, tents and gear.
