When I was a kid and before there was plastic everywhere, we used the old snuff tins discarded by the adults.

Same exact shape only they were metal and we used balloons or other rubber.

Many gobblers fell victim to those calls and they were easier to handle and maintain than the other option available at the time- a box call.
