Default Loose Dogs chasing wildlife problems

2 neighbours have dogs that run loose almost constantly for 2 years now. Last December they were seen chasing deer. The incident was mentioned to the MNR, though be it a CO from Guelph and this is in the Dunnville area.

Thursday morning 3 dogs were loose and a turkey hunter saw one chasing a very pregnant doe. The hunter never called it in. Can he call after the fact, can I call that incident in, or just the concern for birthing deer and turkeys. I just found out about this tonight. Anybody have any experiences like this?

Call the TIPS line, even after the fact

Because this is an active hunting season COs have greater leave to go and investigate then they would in say July.

I would call it in. At least that way they can try and keep an eye on the area or at least be a little more in the vicinity if it happens again .Blasted_Saber Co's have the same search and seizer powers whether there is a hunting/fishing season on or not. They have a lot more power to search than the OPP. TC

Im well aware of that. What im saying is that because their budget is so minimal they maximize their time afield during high intensity times like the early half of the turkey hunt. In the middle of the summer (just an example) when the budget is getting smaller and the big hunts in the fall are still coming a call like this might receive less attention. Im not saying it will be ignored (it wont be), but it might now get the full attention it deserves.

Calling the TIPS line is absolutely critical. A credible report gives a CO a far greater chance at getting out of the office to perform an investigation. When you call, a CO will all you back (my experience is in very short order ~ under 30 minutes) and will ask you questions about the situation.

    Do it.

You can shoot them with a paint ball gun on your own property. At least your not killing the dogs and getting into legal problems. I raised free range chickens for years and had problems with neighborhood dogs chasing and trying to kill my chickens. When you hit them with a paint ball you have the proof that they were on your property loose and the neighbor can't deny it. That way CO can charge them..

CO's do not have more power to search or anything, than police do.
