2016 Lund 1650 Rebel XS Sport

Seeing the previous email on small 16' boats, I thought I'd share a bit of info as I've I picked up my 2016 Lund 1650 Rebel XS Sport (w/ 90hp Mercury). Hopefully it helps others with their planning,

1. The Helix 10 fishfinder fits on the console with a RAM Mount. I cannot imagine getting a larger unit as this one just grazes the windshield,
2. The Shoreland'r trailer comes with a swing-tongue. Apparently, you can further modify the trailer to shorten the overall package length by at least 6" (maybe more) as there is some adjustability. It would be done at your dealer,
3. A MinnKota Terrova 24V 80lbs trolling motor fits fine on the bow,
4. The boarding ladder is on the port (left) side. Factor this in if you want a Talon anchor, etc. I did not buy one, but I think you'd need the jack plate bracket instead of mounting it directly to the transom,
5. I jam it into my Garage using a TrailerValet instead of backing it up with my truck. Once I get it through the door, I put positioning jacks under the tires and then swing the boat on a diagonal. I have no clearance issues, but it just squeaks by the door. Make sure to measure your height and ceiling obstructions.
6. Not sure what to do in regards to a transom saver... Something like a MotorMate will not work on the new Mercury outboards. Shoreland'r seems to make one, but this seems like a pain. I'll just use a block of wood for now.

I haven't taken it out yet. Should do so within the next two weekends for the break-in.

I bought it at the Boat Show from Discount RV & Marine. I would consider them 'local' for me.

That`s a nice boat, congrats. Post some photos, I`m sure we would all love to see it.
My Impact came with the transom saver provided by the dealer. I was not expecting it so it was a great surprise. I`m not sure what kind it is but I`ve seen them off the shelf at Bass Pro. It attaches on top of the rear crossbar on the trailer with a snapper pin and is adjustable. Works good although I do have to remove it to get the boat in the garage.
Enjoy it as it will give you years of good fishing!

Also...wondering if you've looked into rod holders at all? I pick my new ride thos weekend but am not finding much "reasonable" for working with the sporttrak.

No-one local sells the TrailerValet. I bought it off an import car parts guy 'XTreme Vision Imports' out of Quebec that distributes. There is another out of BC according to the USA website.

For the rod holders, I got two with the boat from the dealer... Nothing elaborate. Cisco Mounts looks to have some good bases for Lund.

(Haven't got the boat out yet due to family functions, building a fence, etc... I'm dying to get out).

I've seen the cisco lineup, looks pretty slick. Dunno about the price tho lol. The potential for a lot of stress over such a small area does make me a little nervous. Gonna look into making something custom i think as i do want to run one or two riggers as well.

Check your slope of driveway first... Mine is about 5% and it works. More than that and I would worry as the tire wants to slip then...

I'm going to try and use my old Scotty rod holders with clamping mount. They worked great on my canoe and any tin boat I that I rented in the past.
