A Tennant left a new midsize auto battery here. I have a 30lb Kota on a 12' aluminium that I troll with. By keeping a trickle charger on the battery I can use it all afternoon and it is still ok. It is also much lighter than my old (13yr) yellowtop that just died....
If your motor has a rheostat type speed control instead of 4-6 preset speeds, your battery will last much longer before needing to be recharged...

The smallest trolling motor battery you could go with is a Deep Cycle Group 24 series. It will give ample power and longevity on the water and will keep the weight to a minimum.

Since you have an inflatable you may want to look at a sealed battery or possibly a dry cell, if a wet cell battery leaks it could cause problems with your boat floor.
