Was there much grief with having a German name as a kid or had they learned from The Great War? My older Uncles and grandparents ( all English, Scott, Irish) said the Germans in England didn't get any real grief, in fact sometimes they were seen as the worst off. I know they used them more then a few times to listen in on prisoners, even going so far as to use a wounded comrade ( burns on the left hand, but they bandaged both so he had a weapon under the bandages of his right hand), with a fake head wound so he did not have to talk much, and could be "confused" and not remember things.

Yes - growing up during the war I was always fighting with other kids because of them calling me names - luckily there were a large number of German families in the neighborhood so I wasn't alone - I remember an FBI agent coming to the house one time and talking to my parents - there were a lot of Italians around too and they got the business at times - but we hung in there and after awhile things kinda settled down - most of my relatives were still living in southern Germany during the war - after the war my parents sent care packages over there to help them out
I had a cousin who met Hitler as he was heading to his place in the Bavarian Alps - she was just a little girl at the time and when Hitler drove through her small village the school children would line up along the road - she was designated to give him some flowers that the kids had gathered - she later told us that the thing she remembers about him was his shiny boots and his eyes - they scared her - she later married a American soldier and came to America as a war bride - I would listen to her for hours as she told us of what happened over there during and after the war - what a tragic mistake they made allowing such a man to gain power in that country - can you imagine the millions that ended dying because of him - will we ever learn

My relatives came from Germany in 1774- fighting with the British in the American Revolution..... called Hessians. Over the years it became very unpopular to have a German name. It got changed from Denhart to Danard to..... and finally to Dainard. Has made following your family tree very difficult.

I can imagine it would.
One side of my family goes back beyond the Roman invasion of Brittanica, they were why karen's ancestors built the wall. The second were "Northmen" that came and went over the years, the last side is Normand . They got all three side of the family together in 1066, and we have been fighting, intermingling and leaving kids since then.

Sort of what is currently happening in US politics.
Trump has very similar traits.

Trump have strong feelings that you should be proud of your country, and that one should protect the interests of yourself and your country.
As soon as you used the "Trump is Hitler" statement you have lost any creditable voice in a debate.

hussein created way more devisveness in his 7.5 years, it's just that it's ok to YOU, because it was a liberal agenda to divide and weaken American.
He divided along political party, race, religion, hawks v doves, sex, police v citizens, Feds v States, Israel v everyone else,
green v non green, guns v non guns, climate v non climate, etc. etc.
So ironic that the liberals have fought for this day for decades with little resistance from a live and let live America. Now that it's here and they do not like the pushback from folks they are trying to force their utopia on.
People in America are tired of the way liberalism and socialism has affected America. That frustration is the tip of the spear that has gotten behind Trump. It could have easily have been MR FNUMNULNU(First Name Unknown,Middle Name Unknown, Last Name Unknown.)
It "ain't Trump, much of America has a hate on for liberalism and socialism and mediocrity.

What? Trump uses race as a reason to discriminate but Hitler didn't?
I'm sure Trump loves his Mexican neighbors just like Hitler liked his Polish neighbors.
Trump has no problem with violence of his supporters just like Hitler.
Even most sane US citizens see through his BS.
You want to talk creditably lets try a debate instead of a a statement dismissing someone due to their opinion differs from ours.
Oh again another Trump trait.

You cannot possibly compare trump to the likes of a Hitler who stands in company with Lenin and Stalin, Idi Amin Dada, Pol Pot, Mao Tse tung and others of their kind. Where the heck do you see a Trump in that list?

Trump does not like "illegal" immigrants be they Mexican or canadian.
The police are at Trump campaign stops to control protestors not Trump supporters.
Most Americans I meet like Trump.
