Default Stupid - Sometimes you wonder how stupid cops can be

How many lives were put in danger just because some cop wants to chase a guy who may have broken a traffic law - makes you wonder - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfAaDHWIpMQ

I'm sure that there were a couple of times when the cop in the passenger seat could have tried for a shot and he would have been justified...IMHO

There's going to be some 'splainin' to do for driving like an idiot and smashing up a cruiser after a simple traffic violator. No mention was made of a previous occurrence by radio traffic and the stop wasn't attempted until after the biker rolled through the stop sign (although it was momentarily off-camera),but,that's what it sort of looked like,to me. Chasing a bike is like pushing a chain at the best (worst?) of times, anyway. They just leave you sitting in the dust. Senior command should have ordered a stand down.

EXACTLY. Sadly some run for very stupid reasons, but many run from robberies, Wants and Warrants both local and out of State and because of every type charge from child restraint violations(failed to pay fine) to Murder from Detroit. However you DONT KNOW which one until he's run to ground.

Dodge Cop Cars, as you saw, have poor brakes when hot. Lots of go, no whoa.

I don't care what you did...There should be a very simple law. We'll call it the "You run, ya butt is done" law. With levels of force response starting at just driving into your car/bike to push you off the road/knock you down, going up to automatic fatal. I would think a lot of chases would end very fast if the driver knew that the cops where most likely to just crash and kill them.

Personally I would not care if the cops had front mounted automatic's in like 5.56. A 1 to 2 second bust of automatic fire into the trunk and rear of the car would make them think...
Maybe I have just seen to many of those idiots running from the cops in my years over the road. Half the time there is some young guy with nothing more then a muscle shirt and baggy pants, and lots of time with no helmet, flying between cars with some girl on the back of a sport bike. When he finally does crash, 90% of the time he lives with nothing more the a few cuts and bruises well the girl gets splattered all over the highway, and the car they just hit.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

In my career I was never called off a pursuit. I have been asked by my Shift Captain, when a wreck occurred in front of me and reported by me on the radio, if I was pursuing the vehicle when it crashed.

I have also heard the Shift Captain call off my wingmen on a hot Interstate pursuit at the border going into another State. We simply continued as we treated it as if he only wished to get his command on the pursuit tape. We we wrong about our assumption and the two other cars were reprimanded and it kept one from making detective for about 5 years.

Much of our previous issues with pursuits were eliminated with a chopper, a Tango 51 and a McMillan Big Mac (for the Kenworth/Peterbilt/Mack types)

Too many times you read where a cop tries to stop a guy who committed a traffic violation and some innocent people get killed because of the chase - if it is only a traffic violation for heaven's sake let the guy run - but you know what happens - the cops takes that as a personal affront and now it becomes a game as to see who's going to win - if you watch the video you see the cop on the wrong side of the road while going around a blind corner - what would have happened if some innocent person was driving around the same corner -

If a cop would shoot some guy because he is running away the cop would be charged with murder - and rightly so
