There actually is significant support for it once you get North of North Bay / Sudbury.

It's been identified as a huge issue with many communities. The governance is GTA, and Southern Ontario-centric, yet the North is constantly being treated like the poor step-child.

The provincial Government has made a habit of tossing the North table scraps, but fail to recognize how alienated folks up there feel. Then they make genius moves like killing Ontario-Northland Service to many communities that depend on it.

    Can't blame them.

They're afraid of what it will do to the economy, as some things are in fact subsidized by Southern Ontario, like Healthcare, and general government services.

The sad reality is they would live in poverty. They need the South's tax base for essential services.

Who in turn need their resources.

The guys up north are trying to get some recognition, Wynne does not even notice anything beyond Barrie.

Not arguing the North is ignored by Wynne as there aren't enough seats to matter. Elections are won in the South. As for the need for resources, most can be sourced elsewhere.

She cannot source the land she is destroying.

The water for power, the land for hydro electric, the lumber and the mines, they get a lot of money to keep the roads to the cottages in good shape.

I used to think the same Terry, but am no longer sure the opposite isnt true. These days I'm trying really hard to settle into a new life, and not follow politics/economics as much. But old habits die hard, I still wake up around 4am most days. So here goes.

No arguement, the S and in particular the GTA brings in the most wealth/tax revenue by far. No arguement, they also use and require the most. Over the past X years, the province is going further and further and further into debt. Cost are outstripping revenue. So yep, it brings the most in, it also requires uses the most. And if debts and cuts to services are any indication. The North might be better off without. Get more value for their money. Lots of small countries out there who do quite well without huge metropolitan money pits dragging them down.

and I haven't even touched on so many ways the North subsidizes the GTA. Think TTC, Metrolinx/Go trains, etc. carbon taxes? The city is by far the greatest polluter. Who will carbon taxes hit the hardest? Those in the north and not people driving prius, or electric, or riding the red rocket
