I bought a 25 4 stroke brand new in 2012 for my pontoon.
I haven't had any issues whatsoever, still running like a top.
I understood that they made motors for Mercury as well.

From what I understand they were supplying the motors to merc so if merc got out of the relationship it really has no effect on tohatso.
I'm up north this week. I'll check with my marina who sells tohatsu and ask about parts.

Says tohat is good. Why are most outboard comps talking about water pump change each year? Are they nucking futs?

Rented a 15hp from a lodge for a week. It worked fine for me, although it did idle very fast. I am sure this can be adjusted, however I wasnt about to play around with a rental motor. The lodge owner lovers them, says very reliable.
My understanding is they currently have an agreement with Evinrude, although that could be wrong.

How I here it is that tohatsu and nissan are in bed now. That's what I worry about. My 20 merc just barely gets me to troll. And by that I'm not even talking a nice slow trout troll. So even though this thing runs smoother with a third cylinder is my troll speed not going to be more if for no other reason that bigger/higher pitch prop moves more water?
It's fun to have all that up top speed, but do I lose my bottom. Secondly my big boats that had power tilt meant that you didn't dare hit a rock cause they wouldn't do the old auto flip up. Would that not be true also of this 30 if power tilt?
