    Default Farmer/Landowner Deer Validation Tag

Hi looking for some help regarding an F/l deer tag. This is my first time applying for a tag this way and I'm not sure if ServiceOntario did it right. Anyway, in the regs it says:

Farmers and landowners may submit one (1) application for
a controlled deer hunt validation tag if:
    • They own a parcel of 20 hectares (50 acres) or more
of land in a Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) that is
    offering a controlled hunt OR
    • Their occupation is farming and they have an Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Ministry of Rural
Affairs Farm Business Registration Number (or letter of
exemption from the Farm Organization Accreditation
Tribunal) in a WMU that is offering a controlled hunt OR
    • They are the owner or the sole designated representative
(president, vice-president, treasurer or secretary) of a
company which owns a parcel of land of 20 hectares
(50 acres) or more in the WMU that is offering a
    controlled deer hunt.
Farmers and landowners meeting one of these criteria will
be issued a validation tag if:
    • They hold a valid hunting version Ontario Outdoors Card AND
    • They bring their completed applications to a
participating ServiceOntario centre to have their
    validation tag printed.

I meet the criteria so I went to Peterborough ServiceOntario yesterday with my completed application (as it says to do in the last bulleted point in the regs) and I was expecting to have my validation tag printed (as it also says in the regs). What I got though was a yellow slip that says " F/L controlled deer app receipt" and the women at the counter said I would be getting something in the mail. Anyway, does this sound right? Any other F/L tag users out there with any insight? Thanks.

I have had them print them off right there and have also had a time when the machine couldn't and they mailed them out. I usually don't go and get mine until October, no real reason just put it off until time almost runs out it seems. Sounds like you did everything correct.

You did do everything correctly but i don't think ServiceOntario did. They should have given you a F/L controlled deer validation tag on the spot as well. looks like they just entered your application only. I suggest calling the Outdoors Card Centre to be sure.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I'll call the outdoors cards center as suggested. Gm, I didn't realize I could wait that long to get one, just assumed the deadline was the end of august like the rest of the controlled.

This is the validation permit to participate in the controlled hunt. Depending on the WMU this can be for both antlered or antlerless or both.

Update: A phone call with the Outdoors card center confirmed that ServiceOntario screwed up. So I called ServiceOntario, they said they would look into it. To my surprise, I was called by someone from mnrf the next day. They told me again that a mistake was made, they had scolded ServiceOntario so they wouldnt do it again, and that they had printed my validation tag and it was on its way in the mail. Received it within 4 business days. I was really impressed at the speed in which ServiceOntario and mnrf had this handled. I was expecting much worse...

Anyway, thanks again for the insight guys, much appreciated.

Dad goes in with the form with his info, my info and his brothers info (direct family only, my wife is not close enough) sometimes they give him the validations on the spot sometimes we each gets ours in the mail.

    Glad you sorted it out.
