    Default A different morning

Well today as I get up and make my coffee, things are different in the house. Quiet, almost eery. I have tried to find the way to post this but even a day later I'm lost for words. A week ago our dachshund Lily woke up and couldn't walk. Her hind end was completely paralyzed. After going to the vet we found out what we've always feared- she had IVDD and the surgery is 6 grand. The vet put her on strict crate rest and prednisone till we figured out what we wanted to do. My wife was a wreck and we thought maybe we'd try acupuncture. Friday night while sitting with our poor girl who was still herself mentally we decided to cancel that appointment and make the more appropriate one. Acupuncture was a long shot, even the surgery had a low success rate after being paralyzed for that amount of time with no deep pain sensation. Yesterday at 1130 she fell asleep in my arms. We buried her under the big poplar in the back with her first and favorite toy. My wife is devastated. Only 4 years old. Genetics suck.

So sorry for your loss. They touch our lives so much, but only stay around for too short of a time!

So Sorry Cass. Only dog owners truly understand how we bond with our buddies. I'm not a religious man but do believe if there is an afterlife our buddies are waiting for us at the pearly gates "tails a waggin". RIP Lilly.

Nick .... Very sorry for your family's loss. It is never to lose them in old age, but this was way too young!
