Went out Friday morning by myself - set up in a wheat stubble field by the Grand River. I have 10 silhouette decoys that I made and hand-painted 10 years ago.
Wanted a few birds to make goose jerky.
Easiest goose hunt I've ever had! 3 shots and 3 birds within 10 minutes - Every flock flying off the river came to my calls and decoys.
Quit after 3, as that was enough for jerky batch, but could easily have had 10!
Kneeling at edge of field cleaning birds, and geese flying right over me. After I finished my 2nd bird I stood up to get the third bird, and there were over 15 geese standing among my silouettes looking at me - unreal morning!!!

decided to go shore fishing instead yesterday morning to kill some timeand debated going for geese. caught 0 fish but had many geese fly overhead could have easily taken. Now looking for a shotgun/fishing rod combo over under style or side by side.

that is a fine idea!! i have tried the surf and turf a few times, and it seemed to shut down both the birds and the fishes!
if i had a piece of equipment that did both, that might change my odds!

Has too much time on their hands
I was out on Center Lake AKA "Stump Lake" (north of Brockville) lake for 3 days of morning hunting, hoping for a pass by during the morning take off. Nothing flew over me each day in range. The last day while paddling back... a flight of 7 passed 30 yards directly overhead.. As usual I missed on all 3 shots...I blame the canoe...... The good part was the over abundance of ducks flying around. It was crazy, I did not expect that so early. Bad part, once the park closes next weekend I loose easy access to lake. grrr

We hunted a cut oat field north of Huntsville. Had a great morning and shot 25 birds....followed up the next morning with 11. Good start for the 2016 Season. We used about 50 decoys in a classic U-shape and lay down blinds.

Sept 10 is Waterfowler Heritage Day.
Opener for Central District isn't until this Saturday the 17th.
I hunt the French River every opening weekend.

That's true, but the boundary is Hwy 17. For most guys in Sudbury this weekend was "opener".
