Shining tree grouse
just wondering what everyone (or anyone) from the north Sudbury area to timins area is seeing for spruce and ruffed grouse this year. I was up there earlier (early august) and saw a few birds on some logging roads but tons of rabbits
so I'm heading up tomorrow with my camper and family and doing some bird hunting and thought anyone might share there observations on this years population more or less for the region..

I've been up there fishing off hwy 560 as recently as last week and haven't seen one bird anywhere. Still lots of leaves, the ferns are just starting to turn brown so cover is an issue.
Although I'm heading up again this Monday or Tuesday, I'll bring the 20 but we've cancelled our bird hunting trip til later on this month.
So far its not looking good for birds but the fish are biting now.

that looks promising I expect a dry spring and easy winter we should see very good numbers this year , but I guess the cover is still to thick might make it a bit challenging..

There were a few more this year than last up Gogama way. Not a peak yet though.
