Hunter Safety System
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the lifeline product? Seems like a perfect product to get up and down safely especially when walking up/down slippery ladders.

Jim you thinking a Prusik?
Munter is a good knot to know. You could decend down on your own or with help instead of risking injury from being suspended. The munter does need to be secured with another knot though that you can release while suspended.

I use Muddy's version of it (Safeline) and am very happy with them. It's a great system to keep you safe from ground to stand. It's also very nice to be connected using a prusik when in the stand. Sometimes your safety strap can get in the way when drawing your bow. With the prusik, you can slide it down and out of the way when you need to.

Thanks guys. How good do you think it would be if the rope is wet? Dosnt the rope need to be dry for it to "grab"?

I'm not sure. I've not had an issue with it but can't recall ever trying to pull tension on it when wet. The prusik knot seems to bind so tight that I'm sure it would grab when wet.

When using a climber, I use this. Like with the lifeline, it's nice to be able to adjust pull the prusik down and out of the way when needed.

Thanks. Its one of those things you hope you never have to experience but want to know its ok. lol
When you get up there, are you using a second tree strap for safe measure or would the lifeline be good enough?
At the camp I used to hunt at the tree was only set up with a tree strap which made going up and down the 20' ladder in pitch darkness interesting to say the least.

HSS Lifeline is a great system, I also have one from Seat-o-the-pants and another whose name fails me right now. I have also made my own; but if you make your own be sure to get the proper rope... one specifically made for climbing, not your ordinary run of the mill TSC rope, it is not the same. Get a rope made for climbers, one that has the appropriate rating for fall arrest.
This company sells the rope https://ropeshop.ca/ this company make it http://www.cancord.com/, both are great to deal with, they will even cut it to length.
They do work in the rain.
Saved me twice last year, once would have been a small fall, the other, with me already off balance would have been a bad fall, as it was I dropped about 3"... not bad. As with mine, most fall happen climbing into and out of a tree. I have 30' ropes secured above each of my stands, I show up, clip on and climb, I only disconnect when back on the ground, it serves while in the tree as well.
IMO everyone should wear one when climbing there is absolutely no excuse, only idiocy.

I make my own mostly because 17 stands it gets a bit pricey
so I bought a bulk roll of 500lbs test climbers rope and tied off small pieces with prusik knots
I have never had to use it and hope I never do
