    Default Lund trax system

Thinking of buying a Lund boat with the trax rail.

Has anybody had experience with the Lund Trax System and Downriggers mounted to it?

    Rhybeck,
depending on which model Lund you buy would determine how you would mount the downriggers. I have an Impact which have narrow gunwales compared to a ProV or Tyee which have the wider gunwales. I would avoid mounting downriggers to the narrow gunwales with the Lund downriggers mounts due to the flex it may cause.
I used a custom removable pedestal from Cisco fishing systems which screw into a flush mounted plate which is through bolted to the deck using a backing plate for strength. It works well.
Check out the Cisco website for other options. Also, Traxstech makes custom mounting options for Lund boats

Thank you very much for that reply.
I have been checking those two systems out.
My local guy sells Berts which will likely be the same.
Once I buy my boat I'll know what length track will fit and how high my pedestals will have to be.

I also looked at the Berts tracks but they didn't have pedestals as high as I wanted and I didn't want a track sticking up off my deck. My mounting plate has a very low profile, almost flush to the deck so when I take off the downriggers you're not tripping over the track. Cisco was able to customize them for me to meet my needs. Keep in mind, they were about $350US so not cheap and it takes at least 6 weeks to get any custom orders.
Good luck with it whatever way you go.

A track system is very versatile. My buddy has the lund track on his Pro V. He only uses it for scotty rod holders etc. We took one look at it when setting up his new boat and Berts tracks went on for the riggers and dipsy rod holders! The few people I've talked to that ran riggers off the lund tracks indicated too much flex. I had a friend try it on a rebel and he ended up putting a board across to brace them. I have an older lund pre track system and have cannon tracks mounted on my boat. Very slick setup and with the plastic step pads installed it looks quite nice.

Phischon engeneering makes all sorts of accessories for the track system. Inown a Tracker Targa with the same track system as the lund and have the downrigger mounts from Phiscon, they work great and are really good quality.

    TIGHT LINES!
