One face cord is 8 ft x 4ft x 16inches. But what a lot of people are now selling it at 12 inch depth in order to gain on the wood.
So what you have is 2 face cords cut to 12 inch instead of 16inch. Hope this helps.

I would be interested in knowing what you would have to pay for a single face cord of wood in your area and if it is all hard wood
or soft wood or a mix of both.
Thanks laker

A face cord is roughly $140 sometimes less..
I'm talking hardwood... don't know anyone down here who burns softwood...

16' L x 4' H x 1' D is 64 cubic feet
A cord is 128 cubic feet - so 0.5 cord, or 1.5 face cords.

Up near the Soo, a face cord of hardwood, cut n split, will run you about $85-95, you pick up. Seasoned will cost you a bit more obviously.

Legally, what you bought is 1/2 cord. 4'x4'x8' in volume is a full cord, the only legal firewood measurement in Ontario....
A face cord is 8'x4'x 10" or 12" or 14" or 16" or whatever the seller feels like....
