Default 'KKW Trainer' Combo (JW-25A Combo)

    G'day,

i was was at the Marstar site and found this package at a very reasonable price.

From what I have discovered, it is a decent piece. Some have said it prefers Winchester ammo over CCI.

Has anyone any experience with this K98 look alike? I was thinking it would make a good squirrel gun.

    Thank you for your thoughts.

A lot of extra weight to lug around with the full stock over a conventional .22 like a Savage, or Ruger.

I'd be inclined to keep my eye open for a standard bolt action rifle which I could top off with whatever glass I wanted. The Savage MkII can be had for less than that price if you keep your eye open. Your choice however. It's not a lot of money to put a neat looking piece in the safe.

I have just the bare rifle which I shoot with open sights. It actually shoots really well, although it shoots high with supersonic ammo. You can use 22 shorts in the gun with no issues. The trigger is surprisingly nice, the safety is quite stiff, and just a couple of weekends ago I had some difficulty with the magazine spring. Overall, I like the gun. I got it to practice shooting with a bolt action, since most of my larger caliber rifles are also bolt action. The deal from Marstar is a very good deal, and I wish it was available when I bought mine. It's a fun gun to shoot.

Bluebulldog, weight is something of a concern. That military stock was designed for a larger caliber.

rf2, thanks for the insights. It sounds like it would be a fun piece.

I've never weighed the rifle, but remember, it's from China - wood is not walnut, so it is not as heavy as it looks. It does have the feel of a larger caliber gun though, which one of the reasons that I bought it. Something to consider is that it is set-up for a Mauser type sling, so you may have to search a bit harder for the right sling.

    Thanks guys.

I've always been fond of Savage. Especially as they are made in Canada.

The KKW Trainer caught my eye as I have a weak spot for the odd ones.
