I eat the heart from everything I shoot. From ducks to grouse to deer...
Just cooked moose heart this week and had a woodcock heart yesterday.
Heart is all muscle. Very clean and quite tasty.
The liver from our calf moose was enjoyed by other members of our gang.
I did keep one kidney and I wish I had kept the other one as well. Very tasty grilled on BBQ.
The tongue is also very yummy. There is a moose nose soup video on Youtube...
As for the show, I will have to watch it tonight and it does sound pretty awesome. Thanks for the info!

Its a great show!
I really enjoy the episodes where he's introduced new hunters to the sport.
I hope they put more seasons on netflix.

Thanks BowJ. This show is fantastic. So refreshing to see a real hunting show. Even my kids were hooked. And Netflix is a great format to watch it on. The main outdoor stations are 5 minutes of hunting and 25 minutes of product commercials for every half hour of programming!

Heart is by far the best part of any animal, I keep them all. In my family we fight over who gets it.

Cheers
That sounds great! The slow cooker would definitely tenderize it. At the old camp the guys would just slice it into pieces like the liver and fry it all in onions, it came out pretty chewy. Maybe it's time I started keeping hearts again cooking them your way.

I binged watched all the episodes and Canadian Hunting/Fishing shows don't even come close to MeatEater. This guy is the real deal ! Beef heart and cow tongue is also an excellent meat that I was raised on. I wouldn't try the nads. lol

Really like this Meat Eater show. His approach takes it way beyond a hunting show and makes it more like BBC Wildlife Programming.
He's humble and courteous, affable and engaging. Completely different from any other hunting show.

Found a couple apps on my streaming box that carry the full series.
Seeing enough shows now to know that he boils WAY too much of his meals.
Bleh!
Lol

he often is cooking out of a backpack. only so many ways to cook stuff up when you only have whats in your pack. he also does gourmet cooking episodes, usually one or two per season. im far from a chef, but he cooks way more fancy than me in most episodes and consumes a lot more of the animal than most folks.
