Owned one that used number 11 primers, up graded to 209 primers, upgraded to closed 209 primer holder that also gave you the option of using small rifle primers. Great gun I could shoot 10+ shots of loose or pellet pyrodex and never swab barrel between shots. It shot good with what I used so I never tried different loads. The only complaint I had was the time required to clean the gun properly.
