    NP Adam happy to help.
I find the biggest thing is for the trout not to feel pressure when they bite or they will spit it out.
Those wood tip ups with door spring and plastic reel work well also, I seen them at Canadian tire.
I place split shot sinker 6 to 8" from hook and also go the same length (6-8") from bottom.
Change bait whenever it dies or stops moving around.
I use Trilene XL 8 lb. test mono line.
See my set up on pics.
Hope this helps. Good Luck, trout fishing is the best....

Well another beautiful day in paradise...
Fished a Splake lake today, was 0 degrees Celsius, 10" of ice, 11' of water.
This lake is closer to home, was just getting light when I took off with the snowmobile.
Set up and caught 3 before 3 younger lads showed up and set up 400' beside me.
They started drilling first hole with a drill attachment, never finished it as the drill caught on fire.
Two minutes later the one lad started his snowmobile and came towards me, yes you guessed it, he was looking for a ice auger lol, so I started my old Jiffy and lend it to him, they were a bunch of happy campers.
Fished a bit more and caught 2 more to fill my limit before noon.
    Another awesome day.
    Cant download fish pic?

    Deer Hunter,

    Nice fish bud.

Are you sure they are not splake? Their colours and the fork in the tail look like a splake.

    Check the stocking list online.

Either way some good fishing. Congrats again.

    Thanks.
Those are Brook trout, check out the square tail.
That lake is natural, it was never stocked.
If I can post pics you can see yesterday’s Splake with the fork in the tail.
Sorry if pics are not the best.
