Yup, with no end in sight. I couldn't justify spending that much on a xbow but it seems there's a market for them. I'll stick with my micro too.

Just because it doesn’t have a barrel doesn’t mean that they can’t classify it as a firearm if they choose!
500 FPS is a benchmark for regulatory purposes, dealing with registration , Licensing etc. A pellet gun, well under the 500 FPS, is still a “firearm” as defined by the CCC.Quote:

No barrel means it is not a firearm no matter how fast the arrow speed is. It may meet every other criteria but without a barrel it is a non-starter. They would have to amend the legal federal definition or pass new laws specifically aimed at crossbows.

And thats my point - because a crossbow NOW has attained the 500 fps benchmark, they will probably require a PAL for ownership!
Have you all forgotten that crossbows were ORIGINALLY listed on the licences back in 1994, but never enacted into law … well, with this one now on the market, it might very well happen.
If they can declare a .22 LR rimfire to be a prohibited weapon just based on looks, they can easily change their firearms definition.
It definetely is a slippery slope.
Ive been pretty vocal in defense of crossbow hunting and how they are a great tool to introduce new hunters into the sport, but with these speeds increasing the way they are perhaps these newer faster bows will be lumped into firearms seasons instead of bow seasons...
Personally I wish companies stuck to making lighter and easier to de-c*ck rather than focus on increasing speeds...within 30 yards the tried and trie excal 300FPS crossbows kill them just as dead as these new crazy fast bows..
