It would appear that the RCMP probably has a large portion of the data in it's own databases due to requests for information and we can see Legault (and we can assume others) using freedom of information requests to obtain data. Given my experience with rebuilding databases and if there is as much as I would suspect in local and RCMP database I would say using logs and extracts from cooperative sources I would estimate a 2 to 4 month project to rebuild it into a form and with a parallel team working on GUI and mailings...November to April 1.... about right actually to start.
As for the data integrity, if the RCMP made requests to be updated on firearm owners and their firearms in some regions (like it looks like in Alberta), updates when there are renewals etc.... I see no problem technically saying 50% of the data is out there in various forms to grab, possibly alot more but the format and content may be an issue, parsing data strings can be problematic.
All the (legal) records were destroyed by the RCMP except for Que's....under Federal law.....just because GW has a copy hidden under his mattress, the data can never be revived legally.Quote:

You don't seem to get the nuance...any remaining data from the registry is toxic..legally....no one can ever be found using it or any part of it. It can't be used. It was ordered destroyed by Federal Law and confirmed destroyed by the RCMP.Quote:
