Whaaat? That's terrible. I can't believe some people, that's not the motive for doing a good deed (to be rewarded, I mean).

Yeah it works out good sometimes. I found 2 wallets and a phone ths summer all found its home. 2 of them we found online one of the wallets was found in the driveway at a golf course. Backed up the 20 ft hino half km back turning into the office revealed it was a member lol.
The other wallet was cards spewed all over the rd with 400 bucks inside send the info to my wife and was picked up 3 hours later when I was back at the shop. Got a 100 bucks we split it 4 ways 2 other guys in the truck and a cut for the tracker lol.
The phone I saw it on the way to Fenlon it was on the yellow line an hour and 30 later I decided to stop if it was still there. The phone was locked so it went up in lost and found group 3 hours later it found its owners.
It had a screenshot of some animals we didn't release that info but knew the details.
Found 5 bucks in a parking lot nothing around I kept that lol.

Sharon, you certainly have enough integrity on this site to remove anyone's doubt as to the accuracy of what you say, but I can't help wonder what the details of the story may include? How long was the dog AWOL?
If I was to find any dog that "needed" vet attention for its immediate well being, I would certainly bring it in and get the proper care. Naturally , I would expect the owner, if found, to cover the expenses of vet bill. Trimming nails wouldn't be on my priority list though.
I'm sorry I distracted from Species original post. We should get back to that.

Absolutely , I would do the same and expect to be paid.

response to Bushmoose's post above:
The dog was gone a week?? I posted the missing dog info in our newspaper. A neighbour to the guy who found the dog called me and said her neighbour had my dog. If she hadn't called............. I went to the guy's house and took a picture of my dog with me to prove he was my dog. . He was not happy to see me .... the neighbor , not the dog. :) I can understand why he wanted to keep her; she was a wonderful setter. She was definitely worth $500. to me so I just paid up and got out of there.
Had a dog stolen at a gun club too. Now that still bothers me.
Ya I kinda doubt it cost 500 to feed a dog and get it’s nails trimmed.
