So are you telling me that before the white man arrived the indigenous people of North America were living in utopia? Natives have been fighting against themselves since time began. In the area of Hamilton before colonization there were natives called the Neutrals (because they were neutral between the Iroquois and the Huron) that were all but obliterated by the Iroquois. They killed men women and children and mass graves so large that they still exist to this day as hills in the lower city. Natives took slaves as battle trophies, took wives of their fallen enemy, they fought with each other and killed, raped and looted entire villages. So when the white man arrived they were fought and lost that war. Yes, the natives helped the British win decisive battles in the Rebellion of 1812 and some were rewarded with land and fortune (Joseph Brant, Tecumseh to name a few), and treated the natives much better than the Americans did.

........so I would say that racism and segregation was alive and well long before colonization.

Anyone that has even the slightest clue on history (and isn't an ideologue) can't argue that. Those lovely pyramids in Central and South America were often soaked in blood for festivals. For example, this one from the 800s AD

and there are lots more on massacres, mass graves. Down near London I remember going around a small Indian site that actually had two walls around this small village... seem security was an issue then. This one talks about "outsiders" fates.

The Crow Creek Massacre was 100 years before Columbus and has a mass grave of 486 victims, only the young women seemed to have been spared and we can guess what happened to them.

There always those that wanted to exploit a difference, they talk about American Slavery but three times as many up to 10X (no exact agreement) went to the Middle East but since the males were castrated upon arrival their population did take. In the Americas trade none of the slave ships had to go raiding villages, one tribe just sold the tribe next door. History in all cultures have plentiful examples of division and fighting both local and as with the Mongols, Huns, Zulu, Mayans and Greeks they went out to find people to enslave and take from. The Arab and Barbary pirates raided into Europe and captured ships, so much so it was recorded that the blond slaves brought high prices and some Arab rulers and leader used some kind of dye on their hair because they were slaves children. It was so much an issue that even the US Marine Corp song has a reference to the shores of Tripoli (Look up Barbary pirates seizing US ships in the Mediterranean), taken from their own records of the events Spencer's History of Jihad talks about entire cities being taken in India and I remember their records bragged that each soldier had alteast 3 slaves afterward. I could go on but those that hate or deliberately don't want to look at history honestly don't care so I'll end here.

Read the article. It specifically talks about the marginalized. Be they FN, Higlanders, or today.....

I guess you want people to 'conform' ..... Nonconformity, noun........ failure or refusal to conform, as with established customs, attitudes, or ideas. To conform sounds sort of communists to me. I guess I have always chosen the path of nonconformity.

Thanks - thought I'd drop by and see what's happening - can't help it though its my nature to stir the pot a little once in awhile - we are getting snow again today - they predict about 10 inches this time - we had over 20 inches two weeks ago and two additional snow falls of 4 inches and nothing melted - so there is a lot of snow on the ground - my wood pile is just about gone at this point - best wishes 052

Gilroy: yes the Native Canadians were not always treated well (residential schools), but the idea that this was THEIR land doesn’t fly. Sparsely populated by people that were largely nomadic - doesn’t equal ownership.

I could apply that test to scores of nomadic people sparsely occupying land. That is the very reason they are nomadic, Bushmen in the Kalahari Desert....

Ok Terry, so that raises a question. This being 2021, an era when we trying hard to eliminate, racism, sexism etc.
And eschew such values as we are all just humans, trying to co-exist in the planet.

How does any 1 group, legitimately claim their “rights” to a small parcel of the planet? Are we not all part of the same species? Because that would seem to be, one very big contradiction.
