Port Hope COVID discrimination

Protesting is protected Charter Section 2 activity. The Provincial Order does not supersede our Federally Protected rights. Since the Federal EMA is NOT enacted, then protesting is legal at the provincial levels. IF and when the Feds enact the EMA, then Section 1 of the Fed EMA can allow the Feds to override Section 2, at that point you can charge protestors, NOT under a Provincial order as is occurring now. All those charges will be thrown out if you were exercising in the Sec 2, of the Act exercising the 4 articles listed. You must record and have a record of your activity at the time of ticket. Record the police.

This is what is so wrong with our Charter - a right is not subject to law.
People you really need to know your rights...

Under the heading of "Fundamental Freedoms" the section states:

2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

(a) freedom of conscience and religion;

(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and

(d) freedom of association

So the fellas here who plug their ears and scoff at evidence that shows covid is a crime, you know because its suggested from your fellow researched citizen. Somehow now expect others to follow their suggestions, well I got two words for ya's..

In any case, why is it OK for people from all over to come to Bronte ... but it's not okay in Port Hope. I specifically asked a cop sitting in a cruiser across the street from Bronte, during last year's stay at home order, whether it is okay to fish the river. They contacted the marine unit, and they stated they are not going to be stopping people from fishing, the river is open.

So, basically ... I'll tell you what this is ... it is some person's (cops) interpretation of what is essential and not essential ... and if you've never fished in your life, guess what, you don't have a care for it, so it is non-essential. Plus, let's admit it ... Port Hope hates fishermen from outside of Port Hope ...

If you're going to read any of this, read this ... WHY IS IT OK FOR A PERSON IN PORT HOPE TO FISH GANNY THEN??? Either all fishing is essential or non-essential .... you cannot discriminate.

And see, HERE the truth comes out. PORT HOPE hates out of town fishermen! This has nothing to do with COVID. NOTHING.
The order is an excuse, with some fairly liberal interpretations ...

If fishing is non-essential, then it should be non-essential for Port Hope residents as well! PERIOD. The law has to be black and white.
PORT HOPE should/must get clarification from the Province to name fishing as non-essential then! Otherwise this is blatant discrimination.

Sure you can discriminate between people who live in a region and people who do not. That's a fundamental component of a stay at home order.

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms doesn't trump anything until the legislation is successfully challenged in courts. Until which time that happens the law remains in place. People can either obey it or accept the potential consequences for doing otherwise.

If you must physically report to your essential job and cannot work from home, then yes.

We ran into this at work recently with some of upper management coming from the GTA and some inquiries were made.
