My girl stays in my jeep, just I case I need her, but would have to give it lots of time or you would push deer further away. My 2nd one this year I did leave her at home, but deer was in field and ran 300yds further into field. I took her back the next morning to see how she would do. I rained all night and 16hr after the shot. She had no trouble finding the pile where I cleaned it. the other 2 she has tracked down she was with me in jeep. I came out talked with the property owner and had a coffee, unloaded quad before I went back for them, so probably good hour. They were both hit hard, but if not hit hard would give it longer or the next day for sure.

In Germany it's illegal to hunt w/o access to a trained and licensed dog.
We're not quite there in terms of regulation, but it's a good idea to know someone with a dog, if you don't have one yourself.
